Originally a tired and cramped two-bedroom beachside apartment, our client brief was to reimagine and transform the space into a contemporary, low-maintenance coastal retreat. With little of the original interior worth preserving, we stripped the apartment back to its bare bones. By removing non-structural walls, we opened up the layout to maximise the stunning south-facing views over Tamarama Beach.

The design palette was kept simple, featuring bold pops of citrus colour as standout elements within the compact space. The flooring was finished in a seamless grey micro-cement screed by Xbond, creating an illusion of greater space. This screed’s texture and movement delivered a striking, low-maintenance beachside vibe.

The relaxed coastal palette, incorporating warm natural textures, complemented the crisp white finishes. By day, the apartment’s design responded to the clients’ beach lifestyle; by night, it seamlessly transitioned into a stylish entertaining area, evoking the atmosphere of inner-city living.
